Go-Kart Makers

Get into the driver's seat of a custom Soap-Box Derby car you build from scratch! Using a go-kart kit as your foundation, learn how to safely use keyhole and straight cut saws, power drills, sandpaper, rasps and files to construct your kart and its wheels, steering column, axles and hubs. Work with your fellow crew members to test and redesign your kart, then use semi-gloss acrylic paints to customize it. Drive away from camp with a kart that reflects your designer's sensibility and builder's eye.

Go-Kart Makers Extreme*

Bring your custom kart back to the shop for a tricked-out transformation. On the extreme team, you'll get to refine and rebuild your original go-kart with new, higher performance wheels and tires, speakers and mini stereo ports and advanced airbrushing and stenciling techniques. Take inspiration from top designers as you choose from an array of paint, body and enhancement options, including using wood panels to transform your kart into a streamlined racer or a radical art car. Unveil your upgraded go-kart at an extreme end-of-session show!
