Camp Galileo Curriculum Partners

ART

Our art program exposes campers to various artists, styles, cultures and movements, while inspiring them to get their hands dirty and express themselves creatively. The de Young Museum works with Camp Galileo to develop the program and provides its collection and resources as inspiration for art activities. The de Young's Director of Education advises our team on our art curriculum, and helps select artists and activities that are relevant for our three themes each summer.

SCIENCE

Developed in conjunction with the education team at The Tech Museum of Innovation, our science program has a strong focus on engineering concepts, skills and hands-on activities. Utilizing the unique "Design Challenge" approach to learning, campers are inspired to collaborate on projects and develop teamwork skills. Together campers design, test, re-design and test again, in an effort to devise creative solutions to challenges.

OUTDOORS

Campers participate in our outdoor curriculum with their group every day. Camp Galileo and Klutz share a similar philosophy of encouraging kids to learn through "doing" and using all five of their senses. Campers divide their outdoor time between team-building games like Hula Hoop Pass and hands-on creativity with Klutz activity books such as face painting, lanyards and paper airplanes. We also bring the entire camp together to to play popular Galileo games like Waterball and Capture the Rubber Chicken.
